The Master of Dentistry in Oncology and Immunocompromised Patients is the only one that offers a comprehensive training to the dentist to solve all those problems that arise as a complication of surgical treatments suffered by head and neck cancer patients.

From prevention (performing conservative behaviors and surgery of pieces in bad condition), to designing and placing prosthesis of any type (temporary such as palatal obturators or definitive such as the placement of implants in residual areas to place prosthesis, either implant-supported or implant-retained).

In addition, this Master’s Degree also offers clinical-medical training that allows to handle with extreme efficiency problems that arise from complementary treatments that these patients receive: mucositis, xerostomia, trismus, etc.

Summary description of the goals:

  • Obtain the necessary knowledge on the repercussion, from the point of view of the dentist, of the oncology and immunocompromised patients.
  • Acquire the necessary knowledge, from a dentistry perspective, of the oncological disease that affects the head and neck, and diseases that cause immune deficiency.
  • To know and be competent in the skills needed for adequate treatment of odontostomatological complications of the oncological disease and of oncological and immunodeficient patients.
  • To know and be competent in the skills needed for dental treatment of oncology and immunodeficient patients. This Master’s Degree is aimed at graduates in Dentistry and Stomatology Specialists.

Requirements:

  • Graduates in Dentistry or Medicine, stomatology specialists.

Admission criteria:

  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Examination of the theoretical content of oral medicine, oral surgery and special patients
    of the degree.
  • Personal interview.

OBSERVATIONS: 

Attendance at conferences related to the master is mandatory. The selection of candidates will be made on the basis of the curriculum, a knowledge test and a personal interview.
